Why We Choose to Use Phthalate Free Fragrances & Soy Wax
Why do we, at Canvas Candle Co, use phthalate-free fragrances and soy wax?—because it matters.
So, let’s talk a little bit about soy wax.
Soy wax is made from soybeans which is an environmentally friendly, renewable resource. Unlike paraffin wax (which is commonly used in candles), soy wax emits a clean burn. This means that there is less black soot when the candle is burned, and there are no toxins released into the air. Soy wax also burns much slower than other waxes, giving the candle a longer burn time.
Choosing soy wax was an easy decision for us. A clean burn and a better choice for the planet is a win, win in our books.
Next, let’s discuss phthalates and why we have chosen not to use them in our fragrance options.
Phthalates are a group of chemicals used in a wide variety of products. The most common kind found in fragrance are diethyl phthalates. These inexpensive chemicals can give the fragrance more throw and pop by helping dissolve the raw materials in the fragrance. Unfortunately, they are also listed as endocrine disruptors. Research has linked phthalates to health concerns such as cancer and fertility problems. Although some believe that the risk to human health through candles using phthalates is relatively low, we believe that if we can do it without, why not?!
All of our candle fragrances are a blend of phthalate free fragrance and natural essential oils. It’s an important part of our mission to provide a clean, beautiful candle that doesn’t add unnecessary harmful chemicals into your space.
Every small step we take to protect our customers' health and the health of the planet has a ripple effect, and we believe that having integrity and transparency around what we are putting into our candles is simply the right thing to do.
We want our candles to enhance your self-care routine, and that means fiercely holding the ingredients we use to the highest of standards.
Breath easy, and choose to enjoy a phthalate-free soy candle today. Why? Because small steps in the right direction matter.
