30 Journal Prompts to Start Your Journaling Rituals

Writing in a journal is one of the easiest things with significant impact, that you can do for you self care rituals. According to this article in the New York Times, journalling can help you reach your goals, evoke mindfulness, boost memory and spark your creativity...and we're totally here for it!

Journalling is quite simple in the grand scheme of it; you have a thought, you write it down. However, to elevate your journaling rituals and expand your perspective on those very thoughts, journal prompts can help you explore the ‘why’ for clarity and compassion towards yourself and expand your overall experience while journalling.

We understand the challenge when you finally get the time to sit and start journaling, then your mind goes blank….How do I start journaling?  What am I supposed to write in my journal? How long should I write in my journal?

Before getting started, here are a few tips for self care through journaling

  1. Carve out uninterrupted time. First thing in the morning or just before bed is often when most people get a few minutes to themselves with pure silence.
  2. Light a candle to create an intimate moment that helps you stay focused. Try one from our Ritual Collection  for a sense of calm and intention. Each candle includes an intention card in its box.
  3. Find a notebook that you enjoy writing in. Maybe it's aesthetically pleasing, or has just the right amount of lines on a page–or no lines at all. Find the one that brings you joy when writing in it.
  4. DON'T OVERTHINK YOUR WRITING. Jot down whatever first comes to mind-thats the true beauty of writing in a journal. Trust your intuition.
  5. You don't have to do it daily. If you don't have the time or energy to do it everyday, then don't. Journaling can be a weekend ritual or a monthly ritual-its up to you. Make it something special you do for yourself when it works best for you.
